Production Manager

The Production Manager ensures the safe, efficient, and creative execution of all technical production operations for conventions, trade shows, and other large-scale events. This position serves as both the head carpenter and head rigger, leading a multidisciplinary team that includes riggers, audio technicians, lighting technicians, and video technicians.
Duties:
- Manage, schedule, and supervise all production department staff, including riggers, audio, lighting, and video technicians.
- Assign and monitor work to ensure deadlines, safety, and quality standards are met.
- Serve as the lead contact for all rigging and carpentry-related matters.
- Design and approve rigging plots for events in compliance with venue, manufacturer, and OSHA standards.
- Oversee the safe installation, operation, and strike of all flown and structural elements as well as carpentry, staging, and scenic builds.
- Conduct safety inspections of rigging points, hardware, and equipment and maintain records of inspection, repairs, and training.
- Collaborate with clients, event planners, and production teams to assess technical needs while also assisting with bid preparation, cost estimation, and budget tracking.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical challenges in real time.
- Ensure all crew adhere to safety and operational protocols.
- Maintain inventory of rigging, carpentry, and technical equipment; initiate purchase orders as needed.
- Assist with general venue maintenance and facility upgrades.
Qualifications:
- High School, G.E.D., or technical/trade school equivalent.
- Must obtain an OSHA 30 in General Industry within 14 days.
- ETCP Certification in Theatre and/or Arena Rigging preferred.
- Five or more years’ experience in rigging, technical direction, or stage carpentry for large-scale events.
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and lift up to 75 lbs. in varied environmental conditions.
